Sandstone is one of the most common types of sedimentary rocks.
It is found all over the world in sedimentary pools. A piece of rock made up of granular mineral and organic matter particles. The diameter of the sand-sized particles ranges from 1/16 mm to 2 mm. A cementitious material binds the sand grains and may also contain particles of sludge or clay size that occupy the spaces between the sand grains. The particles may be rounded or square in shape. The classification of the particles is typical, which depends on the change in the energy of the transport medium. Sandstones most often show a layered structure. The composition of sandstone is quite similar to that of sand, which is essentially quartz.

Use of sandstone
Sandstone was used even in prehistoric times in house building and household items. Sandstone has been a popular building material since ancient times. It is relatively soft, so it is easy to carve. It is widely used around the world to build churches, homes and other buildings. Ornamental wells and sculptures were also made for artistic purposes. Due to the hardness of the individual grains, the uniformity of the grain size, and the fragility of their structure, some types of sandstone are excellent materials for sharpening blades and other tools.

Blue sandstone and gold sandstone are also suitable for making jewelry.
